Beyt el 7ayah welcomed the talented home-grown Bahheya Band and the poets Esraa Saleh and Michel Sameh on February 28, 2013 for a night filled with music, poetry and artistic beauty.

We gathered to marvel over the heart-warming Egyptian music and sang along to the tunes! We had an enjoyable night with Bahheya, Esraa and Michel with promises of many more to come!

Back to School: New Look!

AHMOSE team kicked off the Rehabilitation Campaign of Al-Azhar Primary School located in Maadi on the 25^th of January. It’s been 2 weeks now and the school is getting a complete makeover. Thanks to the hard work of the volunteers, 4 floors were renovated including 16 class rooms which were cleaned, restored, and then painted along with the corridors.

After the end of the mid-term vacation, the students will be back to find their classrooms neat, safe, and most of all beautiful!

Dare Philosophy!

On the 15^th of January, Beyt El-7ayah- Maadi Branch – welcomed more than 50 attendees who didn’t stop at just hearing about Philosophy but actually visited us while bringing with them an eager curiosity to discover what Philosophy 101 course is about! Dare to Know and to Change: Philosophy 101 invites us to ask questions about our life, our dreams, our problems and challenges…about who we really are!

Celebrating the UNESCO’s World Philosophy Day, we launched “بحب الحكمة” campaign to raise awareness about the value of Wisdom in our lives. Our volunteers hit the streets of Cairo talking to people about topics importance like Knowledge, Education, Justice, Tolerance and more. But before we went on asking adults those philosophical questions we asked the children whose answers came as a pleasant confirmation that we are all born Philosophers (Lovers of Wisdom). What does any body tell everybody?

We many times think that we have a gut feeling about whether someone is lying, but could it be that we perceive at least in a subtle way hundreds of micro-expressions made by their eyes, hands, gestures and postures that are not in accordance with what they say? This was precisely the topic of this workshop on Body Language and the Art of Debate by Noha Salem at our Heliopolis branch. Home Recycling has never been so fun!

With the incredible creativity and talent of Sara Abdel Azim, we took home recycling to a whole new level. Whether it’s making some origami boxes out of paper we’re not using anymore or planting seeds in a nicely refurbished plastic bottle, this workshop showed us that home recycling is possible, fun and most importantly very ecological!

The Lost Art of Reading Faces

In this workshop, Marouan Moussa, instructor and president of the NGO, revived a long lost art that is incredibly accurate and deep. The Toys have made New Friends

The Toys Campaign has come to a beautiful conclusion as the repaired toys have met their new friends! Our Ahmose Team went to distribute the repaired toys to 6 Orphanages around the area of Maadi with over 70 kids. It was a joyful day for the children and the volunteers! Stay tuned for the NEXT Toys Campaign that will start very soon.
